Nebraska troopers safely resolve standoff at Franklin home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska troopers negotiated for several hours Friday with a possibly armed woman at a home in Franklin.
Around 9 a.m., the Franklin Police Department requested the patrol’s assistance in a domestic incident.
The patrol says officers were concerned for a woman and her baby, both of whom were locked inside a bedroom in the home.
Officers also knew that guns had been in the room.
Eventually, the patrol’s crisis negotiators and SWAT team arrived in an attempt to get the woman to come out.
After over three hours of negotiations, the woman came out of the room without the child, the patrol says.
The infant was found in the room unharmed, according to the patrol. The child has since been placed in the care of other family members.
First responders then took the woman to a Hastings hospital for emergency protective care.
An investigation is ongoing.
