Nebraska upset No. 7 Creighton on the road
OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska defeated No. 7 ranked Creighton 63-53 on the road Sunday.
This is the program’s third straight road victory over a ranked team dating back to last season when Nebraska beat No. 22 Ohio State and No. 10 Wisconsin.
The win is the fifth time the Huskers have beaten a top-10 team on the road in school history, and the second under Fred Hoiberg.
Senior Derrick Walker Jr. led the team in points scoring a career-high 22 points on 11 of 16 shooting and 8 rebounds.
His previous high was 20 points in last Sunday’s game against Florida State. He has now been in double figures for six straight games dating back to last season.
Defensively, Nebraska held Creighton to 30.8 percent shooting, the second-lowest percentage by a Husker opponent under Hoiberg.
Senior Sam Greisel had an impressive game posting his first double-double of the season and fourth of his career (18 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists).
It’s the program’s first win at Creighton since the 2004 NIT, and its first regular season win in Omaha since 1995.
The Huskers will stay on the road as they take on Indiana on Wednesday.
