Nebraska women’s hoops falls to Michigan State in Big Ten Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska’s Big Ten Tournament run came to an early demise Thursday.

Michigan State defeated the Huskers 67-64 in the second round of the tournament in Minneapolis.

In the first quarter, Nebraska fell behind quickly after turning the ball over in the Huskers’ first four possessions of the game.

The Huskers’ offense started catching up to the Spartans in the second quarter, and by the end of the third quarter, Nebraska was down by two.

Michigan State then went on an 11-0 run to start off the final quarter, but Nebraska was able to cut that deficit.

With 44 seconds left in the game, Isabelle Bourne brought the Huskers within three.

Michigan State’s Matilda Ekh then turned the ball over to Nebraska with 15 seconds left.

In Nebraska’s last possession, Jaz Shelley and Maddie Krull missed back-to-back three-point attempts, ending the Huskers’ tournament run.

Shelley led the Huskers with 24 points, shooting 5-10 behind the arc.  Nebraska’s Sam Haiby finished the game with 14 points and led the Huskers with five assists.
