NHS seized around 60 animals from Eklhorn property

ELKHORN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Humane Society (NHS) confiscated nearly 60 animals after a tip was reported.

The NHS obtained a search warrant. They arrived on the property on Thursday, July 9 to investigate the wellbeing of animals and observe if illegal harboring of animals was transpiring.

According to NHS, they found and seized animals of all types including dogs, chickens, geese, ducks, emu, ponies, goats, donkeys, alpacas, pigs and a zebra.

NHS said many of the animals were improperly cared for, stating some of them had overgrown hooves and did not have suitable living conditions.

The animals will be cared for on NHS properties until they can be taken to partners that are more equipped for some of them.
