Norfolk man killed from vehicle-pedestrian crash
NORFOLK, Neb. (KLKN) — On Aug. 14 around 8:30 p.m., Norfolk Police Department and Norfolk Rescue were dispatched to a crash between pedestrians and a vehicle.
After investigation, officers determined that Justin Wulf, 29, was driving a Dodge pickup when he made a left turn. Gloria Carrera, 48, and Saturnino Carrera Torres, 85, were crossing the street on the crosswalk when they were struck by Wulf’s vehicle.
Wulf reported that he did not see the pedestrians and contact 911 to report the incident.
Both pedestrians were in critical condition when emergency personnel arrived. Carrera was transported to Bryan Hospital in Lincoln and Carrera Torres was transported to Faith Regional Health Services before being flown to Omaha.
Saturnino Carrera Torres died from the injuries.
Wulf was cooperative with officers and submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed a result of zero.
On Aug. 16, Wulf was cited for motor vehicle homicide and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
The investigation is ongoing.
