NSP: 100 mph pursuit ends in arrest

OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) — Friday morning, troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) arrested one person following a pursuit and foot chase in Omaha. It began around 6:20 when a trooper attempted a traffic stop on a Honda Accord for running a red light at Hwy 133 and State Street. The vehicle began to flee northbound on Hwy 133 with speeds reaching 100 mph.

After the vehicle passed State Street southbound, the trooper was able to perform a tactical vehicle intervention, causing the vehicle to come to a stop on an embankment off Hwy 133. The driver exited the vehicle and continued to flee on foot, but the passenger remained in the car. The driver was located less than a minute later and was taken into custody without incident.

Upon further investigation, troopers found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The vehicle was also found to be stolen.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Damian Bartlet of Blair, was arrested for numerous offenses, including operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle,
possession of a controlled substance, and multiple outstanding warrants. Bartlett was lodged in Douglas County Corrections. The passenger was released.
