NSP: 2 arrested, 17 pounds of meth seized near Gretna

Authorities said two people were arrested and more than 17 pounds of meth seized during an investigation near Gretna.

The Nebraska State Patrol said troopers saw a suspicious vehicle at a gas station near mile marker 432 around 7:25 p.m. Thursday.  Due to the proximity of the vehicle to Interstate 80, a focus of high-intensity drug trafficking enforcement operations, troopers began to investigate, the patrol said.

A K9 detected the presence of drugs inside the vehicle, and a search turned up 17.2 pounds of meth hidden inside the dash, the patrol said.

The two occupants of the van, Jose Ortiz-Figueroa, 52, and Ana Maria Murguia-Salonio, 51, both of Mexico, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Both were lodged in Sarpy County Jail.
