NSP: Arrest made after vehicle pursuit, reaching speed of 155 mph

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) have arrested a Georgia man following a pursuit early Monday morning on Interstate 80 near Lincoln.

Just before 12:30 a.m., a trooper saw a westbound Chevrolet Camaro going 128 mph, in a 65 mph zone, down I-80, near mile marker 400. The trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle increased speed and fled. NSP initiated a pursuit as the vehicle continued westbound. During the pursuit, the vehicle reached speeds over 155 mph.

A short time later, troopers deployed stop sticks, successfully slowing the vehicle. The Camaro came to a stop newar mile marker 381 and the driver was taken into custody. The entire pursuit lasted less than ten minutes. The driver was identified as 33-year-old Jamell Martinez of Hinesville, GA. Martinez was arrested for willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, and traffic violations. He was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.
