Authorities have arrested a Utah man after a pursuit on I-80 they say reached speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the pursuit began Monday evening in York County and ended in Grand Island.

Around 8 p.m., troopers saw a Chevrolet Camaro near near Waco traveling at 150 miles per hour, the patrol said. The vehicle drove through a lane closed for construction and struck traffic cones as it continued west on I-80, the patrol said.

Later on, the same vehicle was clocked at 155 miles per hour near Giltner, the patrol said.

Troopers terminated their pursuit as the vehicle made its way through Grand Island, then found the Camaro abandoned a short time later.

After a search involving numerous officers, the suspect – identified as 23-year-old Dustin La Rosa – was found at a hotel on South Locust St.

La Rosa was arrested for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, no operator’s license, fail to report an accident, numerous traffic violations, and possession of drug money. He was lodged in Hall County Jail.
