Nebraska State troopers arrested a juvenile who escaped from a youth rehabilitation center and led officers on a pursuit near Grand Island.

A trooper was alerted that the escapee might be traveling on I-80 in a stolen vehicle, and later found the vehicle speeding near Wood River. When the trooper tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off and a pursuit began, the patrol said.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle reached speeds of more than 125 miles per hour before eventually being stopped by spike strips, the patrol said.

A 17-year-old male was immediately taken into custody. He was cited for theft of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, no operator’s license, and several traffic violations. The juvenile was lodged at the Kearney YRTC.
