NSP investigating shooting in western Nebraska

KIMBALL, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska State Patrol has begun to investigate a Monday shooting in Kimball, Neb.

The Kimball Police Department requested help from NSP after responding to a shooting at 602 S. Oak Street. Officers identified the victim as 21-year-old Tessa Ghering, who was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Officers identified the suspect of the shooting as 36-year-old William Serrano. Serrano was taken into custody and logged in Scotts Bluff County Jail. NSP says charges for Serrano are pending.

NSP found two unharmed children inside of the home, who are now in the custody of their mother.
