Authorities arrested a man who was being sought following a pursuit in central Nebraska Sunday night.

Dispatchers with Nebraska State Patrol received multiple reports of a Chevrolet Camaro driving dangerously on Interstate 80 near York, and troopers found the vehicle near Aurora where they attempted to stop it. The driver fled at a high rate of speed and troopers pursued, the patrol said.

The driver, identified as Tyler Liles, 22, of Creve Coeur, Illinois, reached speeds in excess of 170 miles per hour during the chase, the patrol said. A spike strip slowed Liles’ vehicle, which then exited I-80 at the Gibbon interchange. The Camaro was found abandoned at Gibbon High School.

After a search that stretched into Monday night, troopers stopped a Jeep Patriot on Highway 30 near Gibbon in which Liles was a passenger.

Liles was arrested and charges are still pending.

NSP is expected to release more details soon.
