Authorities arrested a man after a pursuit that ended in Lincoln early Tuesday morning.

The Nebraska State Patrol said a trooper saw a vehicle headed east on Interstate 80 near Milford around 1:45 a.m. that was clocked at 123 miles per hour.

The vehicle ignored attempts by the trooper to stop it and continued driving away at high speeds, the patrol said.

The vehicle exited I-80 on W. O St. and began headed west, at which point the trooper stopped the pursuit out of caution, the patrol said.

A short time later, another trooper found the vehicle headed south on NW. 48th St. at 98 miles per hour, the patrol said. That trooper was able to perform a traffic stop and take the driver into custody.

The driver – identified as Jeffrey Hackett, 21, of Glastonbury, Connecticut – was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, reckless driving, and traffic violations. He was lodged in Lancaster County Jail.
