LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A New Jersey man was arrested following a reported pursuit with authorities near Lincoln.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper helped the driver of a Honda Civic that was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 80 near mile marker 398 Sunday night.

After the driver left the area, the trooper realized the vehicle had been reported stolen, the patrol said.

The trooper caught up to the driver — identified as 29-year-old Dayshawn Brimfield — who accelerated away from the trooper.

NSP says after a short pursuit the vehicle began having mechanical problems and slowed down before intentionally driving off the road and striking a fence.

Brimfield was arrested on numerous charges.
