NSP patrol unit hit during weather-related crash near Maxwell

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KLKN) – A Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol suffered minor injuries after a patrol unit was struck by a vehicle near Maxwell, NSP says.

Authorities said just before 10:45 p.m., a trooper was parked, with emergency lights on, while responding to a vehicle that had slid off Interstate 80. As the trooper was assisting the crash, another vehicle lost control and struck the trooper’s patrol unit from behind.

NSP says the trooper was in the patrol unit at the time of the crash and suffered minor injuries. The driver who hit the trooper’s vehicle was medically cleared at the scene.

On Saturday, NSP says troopers responded to 23 crashes, performed 36 motorist assists, and assisted other agencies with 10 incidents during winter weather.
