NSP releases results of holiday weekend traffic enforcement

The Nebraska State Patrol says 16 drivers were arrested for impaired driving during the recent holiday weekend.

The enforcement ran from July 3-5 and included high visibility patrols across Nebraska.

Troopers also issued 16 citations for driving under suspension, two for minor in possession, nine for open containers, six for no proof of insurance, five for no seat belt, two for improper child restraints.

Additionally, troopers issued 292 tickets for speeding, including 17 for people driving 100 miles per hour or more, the patrol said.

Troopers also performed 137 motorist assists throughout the Independence Day weekend.
