LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly assaulted a Nebraska State Patrol officer over the weekend.

Matthew Taylor, 25, of North Platte, was lodged in Buffalo County Jail Sunday night for resisting arrest, third degree assault and several other charges.

NSP says a trooper was alerted that Taylor, who was reportedly armed with a handgun, was possibly hiding in a shower stall of a truck stop in Elm Creek.

The patrol says the trooper was injured during a “physical confrontation” in which Taylor was taken into custody.

The trooper was later treated and released from a hospital.
