NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KLKN) — A Colorado teen has been arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

The incident happened just before nine Wednesday morning on I-80, near North Platte.

At this time, a trooper spotted a Toyota Avalon that had been reported stolen out of Iowa. The trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled westbound.

NSP reports the vehicle reached speeds over 110 mph as it fled.

Pursuing the vehicle, NSP coordinated with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies to deploy spike strips to slow the Toyota. It eventually came to a stop in the median of I-80, near mile marker 155.

The driver, an 18-year-old from Colorado Springs, was taken into custody for possession of a stolen vehicle, avoiding arrest, and willful reckless driving.
