NU Board of Regents to vote on alcohol sales at PBA Husker basketball games on Friday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Alcohol is back on the table for Husker sporting events.

The Nebraska University Board of Regents is set to vote on allowing alcohol to be served at Husker men’s and women’s basketball games at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Friday. If approved, the alcohol sales would begin this season, which tips off Oct. 23 when the Husker men take on Chadron State.

Sales of alcohol haven’t happened at a Husker sporting event since 1999.

It’s important to note, this proposal does not include alcohol sales at Memorial Stadium. There’s still no proposal on the table ready for a vote to allow that to happen just yet.

However, the stadium could be getting a renovation soon to make it more fan-friendly. The Board of Regents will vote on a proposal by athletic director Trev Alberts Friday morning as well.

Also on the table, the approval of a 15-year, 300 million dollar multimedia rights deal between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletics and Playfly Sports.

Friday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Channel 8 will keep you updated throughout day online and on the air.
