The University of Nebraska on Friday announced it will be offering free tuition to students whose families meet certain requirements.

The Nebraska Promise program covers undergraduate tuition at the University of Nebraska’s four campuses (UNK, UNL, UNMC and UNO) for students who meet academic qualifications and have a family income of $60,000 or less (Adjusted Gross Income or AGI) or are Pell Grant-eligible.

“In these difficult times, we want the people of Nebraska to know that the University is here for them,” NU President Ted Carter said. “We want them as part of our family, and we believe no Nebraskan should be denied the promise of a college education because of cost.”
