Officer shot at Westroads Mall recovering at home

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Officer Jeffrey Wittstruck is out of the hospital and recovering at home, says the Omaha Police Department.

But, the fight isn’t over yet. During the alleged shooter’s court appearance, prosecutors said Wittstruck could face long-term damage and may need additional surgery.

Wittstruck was shot in the face and head while responding to a shoplifting call at Westroads Mall on Friday.

The alleged shooter, 21-year-old Kenya Jenkins’ bond has been set at $10 million. He is charged with first-degree assault on an officer.
