Omaha funeral home put on probation for cremating without a license
OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) — An Omaha funeral home is on probation for cremating remains without a license.
On June 24, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office filed a Petition for Disciplinary Action. This week, Nebraska’s Chief Medical Officer responded by putting Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremations on probation.
State officials found that the funeral home cremated the remains of three bodies who were unclaimed in May 2025 as part of a training exercise. According to Attorney General Mike Hilgers, the establishment was not licensed at the time of the cremations.
The Petition charged Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremations with operating without a license and aiding and abetting the provision of false statements on death certificates of the three decedents.
The funeral home is ordered to be on probation for two years and requires the establishment to be supervised by a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
