Omaha man dies after crashing into school bus in Benson neighborhood

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 61-year-old man died Monday after his car struck a school bus in a Benson neighborhood.

Officers were called to a scene near 58th and Blondo Streets around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Omaha Police Department.

Police think a Cadillac DTS driven by Yusuf Kafele was heading west on Blondo Street when it crossed the centerline and hit a school bus.

Kafele was taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on Monday, police say.

Nine students were on the bus at the time of the crash. Police say none of them had visible injuries, but two were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
