ABC EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Child dead following accident at Adventureland Park

ALTOONA, Iowa (KMTV) — Altoona police confirm an 11-year-old died at Adventureland Park died following an accident on its Raging River ride on Saturday. He has been identified by police as Michael Jaramillo.

One other juvenile remains in critical condition.

An Adventureland post on Facebook said, “This investigation is ongoing and the ride remains closed. Adventureland is working closely with both the State and local authorities and would like to thank them again for their efforts. At this time, we ask for your thoughts and prayers for the Guest and their family, as well as for our team members who were onsite.”

Police say the accident happened at 7:35 pm Saturday. Six people were on the ride when the Raging River raft overturned.

Four guests at the park were transported to the hospital. On Sunday, the 11-year-old died.

The park also noted that the ride was inspected on Friday and was found to be in working order.
