Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary of a tornado that touched down in southwest Lincoln.

Multiple thunderstorms developed that afternoon, one however, intensified into a large supercell thunderstorm. A tornado developed from that storm and produced widespread wind damage as well.

The tornado was rated an EF-2 with peak winds of 120 mph.

While the tornado was on the ground for a mere 2 minutes, it was enough time to completely destroy the C&L Dairy Sweet on W. Van Dorn, cause damage to Lee’s Chicken and destroyed multiple sheds and littered the ground with tree limbs.

Businesses and homes affected by the tornado have recovered but the C&L Dairy Sweet did not rebuild.
