People pay their respects to Investigator Mario Herrera

Flowers and notes were left on the hood of a police cruiser in front of the downtown police department in honor of Investigator Mario Herrera, a Lincoln Police Officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Flowers and notes were left on the hood of a police cruiser in front of the downtown police department in honor of Investigator Mario Herrera, a Lincoln Police Officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

Starting at 10 a.m. people started dropping off bouquets of flowers to the Hall of Justice at 10th and Lincoln Mall. One after one, people of all ages flooded the front entrance to pay their respects.

The flags were flown at half-staff in front of the building in honor of Herrera and his family.
