People’s City Mission asking for pies and warm clothes

As we get ready for Thanksgiving The People’s City Mission is asking for your help.

“We’re going to have Thanksgiving and all of the fixings, but one of the things we still really need are pies. Pumpkin pie in particular, but we’ll take any kind of pie,” said Pastor Tom.

The Mission is asking for people to donate pies they can serve to their residents.

Pies can be homemade or store bought and can be any flavor, they’re just asking for them to be dropped off at the Mission near 1st Street and O Street by Wednesday.

Another item the mission needs help with- gathering warm clothes.

“If they got things in their closet that are warm and they don’t need we can use anything– sweaters, mittens, gloves, coats, anything folks can give us right now.”

Pastor Tom says most of the people who come to the mission have little more than the clothes on their back.

If you have winter items you’d like to donate you can drop them off at their help center near 66th and P Streets, at any of the mission drop boxes around town, or at their center near 1st and O Streets.
