Police identify Lincoln bicyclist critically injured after being hit by truck

Authorities have identified a man critically injured after he was struck by a pick-up truck in west Lincoln Thursday evening.

The crash happened on west Pioneers Boulevard near South Folsom at 6:50 p.m.

Police identified the victim as 69-year-old Gary Hejl, of Lincoln, and the driver as 48-year-old Thomas Hudson, also of Lincoln.

Lincoln Police say both the bike and pick-up were headed west over a hill, and the driver of the pick-up didn’t see the bicyclist. The bike was hit from behind.

LPD says speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate and said no citations have been issued.
