Police investigating following shooting that killed Beatrice man

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Beatrice man was killed early Tuesday morning following a shooting.

Around 5:30 a.m., the Beatrice Police Department received a call from someone who heard three loud bangs followed by screaming.

Officers were sent to an area near North Ninth and Summit streets where they found a man lying in the street.

According to the police department, the man was conscious and told officers he had been shot.

The man — 37-year-old Joshua May — was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The police department said officers are currently processing the scene and following up on leads.

No further information was given. The investigation remains ongoing.
