Police rule car fire in north Lincoln as ‘suspicious’

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are continuing their investigation into an early Sunday morning car fire.

Around 6 a.m., officers and Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were sent to an area near 52nd Street and Leighton Avenue on a report of a car fire.

When officers arrived, they found a GMC Yukon fully engulfed in flames, according to police.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze.  A fire inspector at the scene ruled the fire as “suspicious in nature,” and an investigation is ongoing.

Another vehicle also sustained minor damage due to being parked close by.
