LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A portion of Wilderness Park near Pioneers Boulevard and South First Street will be closed due to ongoing controlled burns in the area.

The Jamaica North Trail connector from the parking lot will also be closed until Saturday morning.

City officials ask people to avoid the area during the controlled burns.

Controlled burns are used to manage large areas of native plants and grasses, according to city officials.
