Potential issues for AM commute; Rising above freezing eventually
Temperatures on Friday morning are still very close to or below the freezing mark across the area. With recent freezing drizzle and rain, there are still many icy roads out there.
Give yourself extra time for the morning commute, increase your following distance, and remain extra vigilant while driving. There are also many closings and delays for Friday, you can find those here.
Fortunately, temperatures will eventually rise above the freezing mark for many hours. This will help alleviate travel issues for the evening commute. We’re looking for highs in the upper-30s to low-40s in Lincoln.
The evening commute doesn’t look too bad. Depending on how stubborn the low clouds are to exit, we may or may not see more breaks in the clouds by then. Temperatures will fall back below the freezing mark through the evening.
The weekend forecast looks very nice. We expect plenty of sunshine both on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the upper-40s to near 50°.
By early next week, a strong storm system will be knocking on our doorstep. This will increase precipitation chances for several days next week, and will also send temperatures plummeting for the second half of the week.
