Authorities say two Good Samaritans jumped into action and pulled an elderly man from his car shortly before it caught fire.

Lancaster County Deputy Todd Duncan said a man and woman, saw the 90-year-old man sitting in his car, which was smoking.

The couple pulled over, removed the man’s seatbelt and pulled him from the car. Shortly after, the car was engulfed in flames, Duncan said.

“Probably saved his life,” Duncan said.

The 90-year-old man reported he was driving to the end of his driveway to get his mail when he had a mechanical issue with his vehicle, Duncan said.

Damage to the car was estimated at $8,000.
