Proposed Term Limits for City Council Charter Amendment certified after petition pages reviewed

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen announced the completion of the review of the petition signatures for the Term Limits for City Council Charter Amendment submitted by Good Government Lincoln.

The City Council term limits proposal would institute term limits for city council members at two consecutive four year terms.

Wiltgen said the election commission reviewed 486 petition pages of the 602 total pages.

Of the 8,082 petition lines reviewed, 5,628 were found to be valid. That is 69.6% validity.

The Election Commissioner certified the signature threshold and returned all petition pages to the Lincoln City Clerk.

Good Government Lincoln released a statement celebrating the certification of the proposed amendments.

“We are pleased the first of the proposed charter amendments has been certified,” said petition sponsor Tony Fulton. “Voters are excited for a say on these initiatives in November. Thank you to the Lancaster County Election Commissioner for the quick work in verifying the signatures.”
