Pumpkin run gets kids moving as they run through the Haymarket

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After a few years of being stuck inside, one annual event was finally back in person on Sunday.

Parents and their children took part in the Pumpkin Run, which covered much of the Haymarket, to show just how fast they could be.

“You know, we love to finally be able to get out and stuff,” said Jason Petersen, a father and participant. “We run as a family, and that was always kind of tough, not being able to do stuff like this.”

The finish line was near the Pinnacle Bank Arena.

“This is a good part of our community, is seeing everyone being active and coming together,” Petersen said. “So it’s really great to finally be around people and be outside. Being a coach and being around kids, that’s what you want, is kids being healthy. And seeing all these kids run like this, that’s really awesome.”
