Quiet for most Monday, before stronger system on Tuesday
The temperatures, the wind for the most part, all were cooperating for a top-10 day on Sunday. Temperatures throughout the evening will fall once the sun sets, dropping temperatures to the middle 50s before midnight, and the lower 40s by Monday morning for the start of the first, full week of April.
Monday will be uneventful for most, with the slight chance for a spotty shower here or two with some moisture hanging out in the clouds. Speaking of clouds, we’ll see increasing cloud cover throughout the day, and temperatures will be nearing normal in the middle 50s and low 60s.
Tuesday giving a little of everything
Closer to home, extreme southeast Nebraska is trending to have storms initiate along the Kansas and Missouri borders that could be strong to severe. Cities like Auburn and Falls City are under a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk heading into Tuesday night. A few strong tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail will be possible, especially looking further east.
That being said, we are monitoring for trends to see if there would be any westward shift to include Lincoln and more of southeast Nebraska.
Most of Tuesday, there will be an ongoing snowstorm through western Nebraska. Counties near the Wyoming/South Dakota borders will have seen snow since Monday morning, but it will move east to affect more of northern/west central Nebraska by Tuesday morning. Winter Storm Warnings are for those shaded in pink; Blizzard Warnings for those shaded in red as of Sunday afternoon.
One of the latest versions of Stormcast shows a drastic difference in snow totals over a small area. Some could see over a foot, but the area appears to be localized. Other than that, some accumulating snow out toward central Nebraska could be blowing in stronger winds by Monday night into Tuesday.
Tuesday is the main focus. After that, our weather pattern settles again, and we do not see a lot of precipitation chances for a while.
