Rain causing flooding concerns, road closures

UPDATE: The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says flooding has caused several roads to close.

LSO says 14th from Roca Road To Saltillo closed around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, as did SW 2nd from Roca to West Sprague Road and Olive Creek Road from SW 42nd to SW 58th.

The intersection of 27th and Saltillo could close soon.

So far, no rescues have been reported.

Officials remind drivers to never drive around barricades.

Morning rain has left several areas in an around Lincoln at a risk for flooding.

A flash flood watch is in effect for much of southeast Nebraska, including an areal flood advisory for Lancaster, Sanders, Otoe and Saunders counties.

An areal flood means minor flooding is likely in low areas.

Early Tuesday morning, a train spotter reported flooding in the Waverly and Greenwood areas from small streams that feed into Salt Creek.

The spotter reported the water had almost risen to the level of Highway 6 in one location.

Heavy rains are possible throughout the day.
