Records broken at Capital Humane Society’s Tails and Trails event

ASHLAND, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln’s Capital Humane Society hosted its annual Tails and Trails fundraiser on Sunday, breaking records for attendance and the amount of money raised.

Matt Madcharo, executive director of the humane society, said the shelter raised more than $65,000. More than $17,000 was raised through the pet photo contest.

Last year’s winner, Pearl, is featured on a bottle of wine available at Glacial Till Vineyard, where the event is hosted each year.

Enzo, a large lab mix, won this year’s contest and will be on a bottle by next year’s Tails and Trails.

Anyone looking to volunteer with the humane society can look on its website for opportunities.

Foster parents for cats and dogs are greatly needed right now.
