LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Santa has officially left the North Pole. He made his first visit to Gateway Mall on Saturday. There weren’t long lines like in previous years. This year is a little different with the pandemic.

All guests must wear face masks. There is no sitting on Santa’s lap to ensure social distancing, but guests are still able to take a photo. Plexiglass is installed at the front desks, and helpers sanitize between each visit. Reservations are encouraged, but walk-ups are available throughout the day as space allows.

“It’s nice that we can still come and the kids can still see Santa, still celebrate the holidays even though the pandemic’s so bad and everything,” Lincoln resident Don Loury said. “I know a lot of people are having a hard time, businesses are going under.”

If you’re not comfortable visiting in person, you can schedule a zoom call with Santa. Visit Gateway Mall’s website for more details, and to schedule your virtual experience.
