LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Scheels gave back early Friday morning, donating six figures to the Food Bank of Lincoln.

Scheels presented a big check for $300,000 to support the Food Bank as they build a new facility in northwest Lincoln.

Scheels associates and Food Bank members attended along with members from the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

“A gift of one dollar can be just as meaningful but gifts of six figures are pretty rare,” said Michaella Kumke for the Food Bank of Lincoln. ”

So we’re honored to be one of the recipients of such a generous gift.”

“It’s our responsibility to give to the community,” said Louie Sikich for Scheels. “The reality is most of us will not know everyone in our community, know every minority but the impact we can make will spread that everyone can feel it.”

Food Bank officials announced there will be a Scheels Meal Tracker to give the total of meals provided by the bank.

Give To Lincoln Day is Tuesday which also helps the Food Bank of Lincoln close that final gap of $1 million to help feed the community.
