Southeast Community College Ag Club collects donations for Nebraska wildfire victims

BEATRICE, Neb. (KLKN) – Students in Southeast Community College’s Ag Club were at the Tractor Supply Co. in Beatrice on Monday accepting donations to help farmers and ranchers affected by the Road 702 fire.

The Ag Club was asking for people to donate any agricultural items, new or used, so they can stuff their trailer full of supplies.

Some specific items the students were asking for were salt blocks, fencing materials and feed.

They were also accepting monetary donations so they could buy supplies.

For some of the students, the fires hit close to home.

“We’ve actually had some students that [have] been affected by this,” club member Kambree Singleton said.  “They have lost a lot in the fires, and this is something that’s really important to us. We are Ag Club, we are agriculture.  The ones who are mostly affected are in ag, so anything that we can do to help them would mean a lot.”

The club plans to deliver all of the donated items on Friday.
