Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for southern Nebraska through 1 a.m. Monday
Much of southern Nebraska now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch through 1 a.m. Monday.
Storms are already initiating in Thayer and York counties, so heads up that things are rapidly developing tonight.
Lincoln and Omaha are under an Enhanced (Level 3 of 5) risk for Sunday night. Timing of these storms looks to start around 7 p.m. with chances through midnight.
First, storms will initiate along a boundary in western central Nebraska by Sunday afternoon and race east. Then, storms in eastern Nebraska along a warm front arrive around 7 p.m. and continue to be a threat through midnight as the line from western Nebraska catches up.
Primary threats include large hail (2″+), wind gusts exceeding 65mph, and a tornado or two are all possible.
Have multiple ways to be warned, and do not rely on outdoor tornado sirens! Be proactive, rather than reactive.
