Seward County deputy finds over 16 pounds of meth in car, sheriff’s office says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A California man was arrested Friday after a Seward County deputy found over 16 pounds of meth in his vehicle, the sheriff’s office says.
A deputy pulled over the vehicle for multiple vehicle and traffic violations on Interstate 80 near Goehner, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy then became suspicious that the driver was involved in criminal activity and asked to search the car.
The driver, 42-year-old Valentin Mendoza Jr., consented to the search, the sheriff’s office says.
Inside, the deputy found over 16 pounds of meth hidden in the vehicle’s doors.
Mendoza was then arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possession meth with the intent to distribute and possession of over 140 grams of meth.
He was lodged in the Seward County Detention Center.
