Two miles for two fallen brothers. The Seward County Sheriff’s office leading a walk to honor LPD investigator Mario Herrera and Lancaster county Deputy Troy Bailey.
“I have several friends that work within LPD and LSO, so it hits very close to home for us,” Sheriff Mike Vance said.
Inspired by 11–year–old Zachariah who runs a mile for every officer lost in the line of duty, Sheriff Vance said this was their way of showing respect.
As so many across Nebraska have paid their respects to those fallen, Sheriff Vance said seeing the community of Seward come together to walk for Herrera and Bailey, was moving.
“They reassure us that what we do is not forgotten,” Vance said.
His message to the Herrera and Bailey families a simple one, everyone is here for you.
“We can never know what they’re going through but we know it’s a hard loss. They lost a father, their husband. We just wanted to show them our support,” Vance said.
