LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are investigating the death of an 82-year-old Nebraska man.

Cass County Sheriff Bill Brueggemann said dispatchers received a call from an acquaintance saying Gail Lanning, an Eagle resident, was dead.

The acquaintance and her husband had been helping Lanning clean and renovate his home, Brueggemann said.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday indicated blunt force trauma.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the death.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified Lanning as a woman. We regret the error.
