Sheriff says man shot after he fired handgun at deputies

LOUISVILLE, Neb. (AP) – A Nebraska sheriff says a man who came out of his home and began shooting at deputies was hit several times as they returned his fire. Cass County deputies were called to the man’s home east of Louisville around 10:25 p.m.

Wednesday. The sheriff says that while they were speaking to the man’s wife on the front porch, the man came out the front door and opened fire.

Sheriff William Brueggemann says none of the deputies was injured.

The man was taken to an Omaha hospital.

The names of those involved haven’t been released.
