LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 78-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was allegedly shot in the head by her 80-year-old husband early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting just before 6:30 a.m. near 18th and Dakota Street. Lincoln Police said they found a 78-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her head. The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition, police say.

The victims husband, an 80-year-old man, was arrested Sunday morning and is currently being held at the Lancaster County Department of Corrections.
