Similar feel with chances for storms and showers each day of the next week
Recapping the past weekend, more spotty showers and storms brought more rain throughout southeast Nebraska. According to the Lincoln Airport, just over a tenth of an inch was seen. The winners from Saturday and Sunday were Hastings and Kearney airports that saw about 0.5 – 1″ in total.
For June standards, we are doing well. On average, we usually see 4.48″ for the entire month, and we’ve already received 1.50″ in just the first four days. In the grand scheme of things, though, we are still over 5.5″ behind where we should be for the year.
The good news is that we continue to have small chances to see something almost every day of this next week. We’ll start of sunny and calm Monday morning, with isolated storms popping up after noon. The best chances to see some of these hit and miss showers will be south of I-80, closer to the Kansas border.
Largely, we’ve been looking into the pattern we’ve been stuck with for some time, and models show it may break down by early next week. Patterns like the one we are in can be stubborn, though, and that’s why we have chances almost each day this week.
Wednesday will have better chances with storms riding along a cold front overnight into Thursday.
