Six Nebraska businesses recognized for recycling efforts
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Recycling Council has announced six Nebraska businesses are being recognized for their efforts to recycle.
The Nebraska Recycling Council is a nonprofit organization aimed at maximizing the economic and environment benefits of waste reduction.
Of the six businesses, three are in Lincoln: Lincoln Bike Kitchen, Lincoln Children’s Zoo and Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska.
Lincoln Bike Kitchen won the Commonwealth Award for having 100 volunteers redistribute a record 2,200 bicycles.
Lincoln Children’s Zoo won the Green Team of the Year Award for their efforts resulting in 10,000 pounds of paper being recycled.
Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska won the Waste Diversion Service of the Year Award for adding donation sites and expanding recycling services.
