Skin Cancer Screenings

Melanoma is the most deadly of all skin cancers and just this year over 44,000 Americans will develop this and 8,000 will die, but luckily this type of skin cancer is the easiest to treat and almost always curable if the right steps are taken. That's why Rustad Dermatology is offering skin cancer screening to local businesses around the area supporting melanoma month in May.  To check for signs of melanoma you just have to remember your ABC's.  Asymmetry-one half of the mole doesn't match the other half. Border-the borders of the mole are irregular, ragged, or blurred. Color-the color of the mole is not the same throughout having different shades of tan, brown, red, black or even blue. And finally, diameter-if the mole is larger than 6 millimeters, which is about the size of a pencil eraser. Dr. Rustad says looking for these signs is key in stopping this type of cancer early.  Again May marks melanoma month and Dr. Rustad will be going to various businesses and organizations around the state performing these free tests.  To set up an appointment for your company contact Michelle at michelle@RustadDermatology.com or call Rustad Dermatology at 402-484-6222.  This is a free clinic and is available to groups of 25 or more.  You can also find more information on skin cancer and some of the work that Dr. Rustad does by going to www.rustaddermatology.com.
